Evansville Christian School is pleased to share important leadership updates as the school prepares for another year of mission-focused growth and excellence.
At the conclusion of the 2025–2026 school year, ECS leadership shared with faculty, staff, and the school community that the search for the next ECS Superintendent is officially underway. ECS has partnered with JobfitMatters to lead the search process. “We are excited to see where this search leads and are prayerfully anticipating who God has in store for this position,” Board President Scott Schroeder shared.
In addition, ECS announced that for the 2026–2027 school year, Tyra Harnishfeger and Andy Hanson will serve as Interim Co-Superintendents beginning in July.

Harnishfeger has served at ECS since 2011 in a variety of leadership roles and most recently serves as Chief Academic Officer. In her role, she provides oversight of academic programs and equips faculty to faithfully advance the ECS mission. With experience as both a school leader and ECS parent, her connection to the school is deeply personal, with her son also counting among ECS alumni. “I am thankful and humbled by the chance to serve ECS in this season of transition,” says Tyra. “I am thankful for the support of our ECS community and look forward to doing the work the Lord has for us in partnership with our staff, families, and community partners.”
With more than two decades of experience in education, she is passionate about pursuing excellence in education and cultivating student growth through a biblical worldview. As Interim Co-Superintendent, she looks forward to maintaining the school’s strong momentum while continuing to deepen its mission-driven foundation. All academic leads will continue reporting to Harnishfeger, as will athletics, spiritual formation, and fine arts departments.
Hanson has served at ECS since 2019, though his connection to the school began even earlier through his role as Administrative Leader at Christian Fellowship Church during the years ECS operated its North Campus there. A longtime ECS partner and parent, Hanson has deep roots within the school community. Three of his children attended ECS, and his oldest daughter also completed her student teaching at the school.
As Chief Financial and Operations Officer, Hanson will continue overseeing business, operations, development, and marketing efforts while also serving as Interim Co-Superintendent. Andy shared his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the ECS staff, students, and community during this transition, adding, “Please pray with us and for us as we strive to continue the good work the Lord is doing at ECS.”
Together, Harnishfeger and Hanson share a vision for the coming school year that will maintain momentum while strengthening the roots of the ECS mission. Their leadership will focus on organizational health, future planning, and a thriving school culture by balancing outward mission with inward stability during this season of transition.
“We are very blessed at ECS to have such incredible leaders, and Tyra and Andy are committed to moving our school forward during this season of change,” says Scott Schroeder.
Evansville Christian School is deeply grateful for the prayers, encouragement, and partnership of every family, supporter, and member of the ECS community who continues to advance the mission of empowering students to embrace a Biblical worldview through spiritual and academic growth, servant leadership, and authentic relationships in the name of Jesus Christ.
