Vocal & Instrumental Music

At ECS, we strive to develop students to have a heart that loves to praise and worship God through music with a curriculum that is aligned with the State music standards.

Our students are introduced to music in Preschool/Pre-K, and are further developed through weekly music classes in the Elementary level. Middle school students may choose between band and music appreciation including vocal music. Students are taught an appreciation for music while building skill sets in music literacy and performance.

Performing for the Community

We celebrate the arts community with an Elementary Fine Arts Night, a collaboration of musicals and art shows featuring each of our elementary students. Students in preschool and elementary grades also have performance opportunities at the Christmas Chapel and, in the spring, at the Spring Program, where they act and sing. In 4th grade, students learn to play the recorder while developing skills in performing together as a group. Students in 5th grade may join the band class, and all 5th–12th grade bands perform throughout the school year. High school students can choose Concert Band or Concert Choir as a Fine Arts elective. Additionally, students have opportunities to participate in ISSMA competitions during the second semester, including ISSMA Solo & Ensemble, ISSMA Junior High Organization, and ISSMA High School Organization. Please refer to the High School page for detailed information about courses and opportunities for high school students.

Middle and high school students in the performing ensembles are given opportunities to represent ECS at the ISSMA competitions each spring. Students are also encouraged to develop servant-leadership skills by participating in our Exploratory Arts offerings and by serving in our local churches and non-profit ministries.
